Individual Conflict Resolution Coaching
Overview
The SCDR offers conflict resolution coaching. Conflict coaching can be used in lieu of or in support of a mediation process. The goal of conflict coaching is to empower PSU students to constructively solve their disputes.
When to use?
- When the "other" person or people involved do not want to come to a face-to-face mediation or does not show up.
- When the person seeking assisstance does not want to engage in a table or proxy mediation.
- In anticipation of a conflict.
- In preparation for a conflict resolution process (pre-mediation or pre-negotiation).
- For a thorough assessment of an existing conflict.
- To learn from a past conflict, move forward and deal with any remaining issues. Example include post-mediation and post negotiation.
- To prevent a dispute from unnedessarily escalating.
Benefits
- Conflict coaching provides a way for students to receive assistance with their conflicts even when they or the others involved do not want to participate in mediation.
